It’s a bit of an adjustment, as someone who’s usually employed to pack the dance floor, to be operating during a time of social distancing. But, as the saying goes, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” So, we pivot and we press on. Here’s how A Ran Music Service is handling operations during COVID and how you can keep dancing.
The CDC recommends “putting a wipable cover on electronics”. We go a few steps further. Our microphones are covered with a disposable pop/windscreen. The shield is discarded after use. If multiple people will be speaking- for example, during speeches- Microban is also applied to the windscreen. Microban prevents the spread and growth of bacteria for 24 hours. It kills 99.9% of bacteria and germs including Human Coronavirus, , Influenza A H1N1, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus. The hand-held stem of the microphone is also disinfected with a sanitizer wipe between uses. The wipe also kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses and prevents bacteria growth for up to 24 hours. The most dependable method of keeping a microphone virus-free is to store it for multiple days after use. We adhere to this practice.
As mentioned in an article titled Designing Your Wedding for Social Distancing, Aisle Planner suggests “Your DJ or band can assist you with a sound system, especially for an outdoor celebration, to make sure everyone can hear.” At A Ran Music Service, we have an ample amount of equipment readily available. This gives you the capability to have music and sound projected to multiple locations at your venue.
Directly from the MN Department of Health: “As of July 25, 2020, per the Governor’s Executive Order 20-81, people in Minnesota are required to wear a face covering in all indoor businesses and public indoor spaces, unless alone. Additionally, workers are required to wear a face covering when working outdoors in situations where social distancing cannot be maintained. Research has shown that use of face coverings can greatly reduce the risk of infection when combined with other prevention efforts such as social distancing and hand hygiene.”
Wedding Pro posted a wonderful suggestion on Instagram- social distancing buttons! “We love these social distancing buttons that help wedding guests feel more comfortable”, they wrote. The couple posted a sign reading, “Distance is Temporary, Love is Forever”. Guests that wished to practice social distancing were invited to wear a button. The table also contained extra masks and hand sanitizer. See more: https://www.instagram.com/p/CDjcGSMFjYT/
Social distancing floor decals in an array of colors and designs are available through websites such as Etsy and Amazon. They serve as unspoken, friendly reminders to leave 6 feet of space between yourself and the other person.
“Line dancing allows people to spread out and dance, while your DJ or band can help with extra staff to teach people and keep things distanced and organized,” says Aisle Planner.
Portable dance floors come in smaller sections, allowing you to design mini dance floors and space them out. One suggestion is to place them across the reception space in between tables. Your guests can take turns dancing while not feeling crowded next to others.
“What used to be a party hosted in a single ballroom will now consist of drinks, dinner, and dancing in ballrooms, courtyards, and adjoining rooms simultaneously,” Says Maggie Kreienberg, Digital Producer/Social Media Assistant for Brides.
As we all work together to carry on through these unprecedented times, there are various, fun ways to still enjoy your reception. Create memories and dance the night away if you wish! Let A Ran Music Service take the stress out of the process and keep you and your guests celebrating comfortably and safely.
