Venue Spotlight- Harriet Island Wigington Pavilion- St. Paul, MN

Located on the scenic Mississippi River with incredible views of the downtown St. Paul skyline, this venue boasts the beauty of Minnesota. The landscape and loveliness of the area is impressive- from the boats drifting tranquilly along the river to the lush, green fields and trees, to the beautiful architecture of the historic building.

A perfect location for both ceremony and reception, the pavilion is a year-round venue. The park at Harriet Island was built by Dr. Justus Ohage, St. Paul’s health officer. Ohage donated the land to the city in 1900. In 1941, the Harriet Island Pavilion was designed by the nation’s first black municipal architect, Clarence W. Wigington. This 5,000 square foot facility was restored in 2000 to host receptions, parties, wedding and more throughout the year.

Harriet Island features multiple location options for your occasion. Outdoor patios on both the riverside and park side encourage continuous conversation and celebration; an ideal spot for an outdoor ceremony or social hour. Use of the spacious stage or backdrop of the cozy fireplace welcomes celebrations inside the pavilion, as well.

Kate Frye and Brittany Williams are the amazing Event Coordinators keeping everything operating impeccably. We had the pleasure of meeting with Brittany for a site visit. Her bright smile and hospitable personality make her the perfect gal for the job. It’s no wonder that their couples leave them glowing reviews!

When asked ‘What are the best features of the venue?’, Brittany replied, “We do not have exclusive vendors, instead you may use any caterer with a MN State Catering License and a beverage service with appropriate liquor insurance and licensing. We also have a beautiful space along the scenic Mississippi River and downtown Saint Paul skyline.”
